Green Banana Flour Contributes to Gut Microbiome Recovery

This week I found further evidence of the power of Green Banana Resistant Starch to restore the gut microbiome. A 2022 study published in the Frontiers of Nutrition evaluated Green Banana Flour (GBF) for its capacity to restore gut microbiota and integrity after antibiotics.

GBF is rich in resistant starch, proven for its prebiotic effect on the gut microbiome. The study found that GBF decreased intestinal permeability and repaired the intestinal barrier from antibiotics by increasing mucin secretion. GBF intervention also accelerated the recovery of the gut microbiome by boosting the growth of beneficial bacteria. It concludes that GBF can act as a dietary intervention to alleviate the harmful effects of antibiotics.

Although not part of the study, one can assume that the benefits of GBF on the gut can also be applied to recovery after chemotherapy. It was certainly my experience that Green Banana Resistant Starch restored my gut microbiome after chemo in 2022. I look forward to seeing similar research performed for chemo soon.
